Steampunk Events Coming Soon! 💖⚙️📚
Tons of upcoming events, more adventures, + books for your TBR! 📚
Hello!
I hope you’re having a wonderful start to August! The weather finally cooled down enough this week that I can pretend fall is here. I’ve been drinking iced pumpkin spice lattes while working on my drafts. The atmosphere has been fantastic for writing about a semi-feral, cursed woman in her gothic tower and her would-be music tutor. (I’m so excited for The Clockwork Coffin!)
This doesn’t mean I’m quite ready for summer to be over or to deal with freezing temps. My family has been off to the pool a few times and I was talked into trying the giant waterslide. It was much more fun that I expected! We also visited a new arcade in our area that’s themed around monster movies. I loved it and have plans to come back next time I need a break from drafting!
As much as I love staying in and being cozy, I love going off on adventures! I love getting to see old friends and make new ones. People are weird, wonderful, and complicated. Spending time in community helps me refill my creative well. It gets tricky balancing writing time with travel and everything else, but I’ve reached the conclusion that there is no such thing as balance. I firmly believe that there’s a season for everything. It’s okay for priorities to shift as needed.
Having said that, if you’d like to get more involved in steampunk events, both online and virtually, here are a few coming up soon:
The 11th Annual Conglomeration hosted by the BrassGears Adventurers Society
Steampunk Picnic for H.G. Well’s Birthday hosted by the Chicago Steampunk Expo
Chrononaut Cotillion hosted by the BrassGears Adventurers Society
I won’t be able to make some of these due to the timing (my boys go back to school soon and I have lots of writing to do this fall), but I can with certainty that I’ll be at TeslaCon, book club, and the Chicago Steampunk Expo. For more steampunk events, check out The Steampunk Explorer! They have some of the best coverage of all things steampunk globally.
(If you’re an artist, writer, or musician, I heard that the Chicago Steampunk Expo still has some table space available in the Palace of Fine Arts during the convention May 30th - June 1st, 2025. Click here for more info about the con. Next year will be my third year going. I love this event!)

In other news, check out this group promo for Kindle Unlimited books for your TBR stack! Both Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast and Monsters and Machines are featured in this promo. You can either click here or the banner below to browse all the books:
I’m also swapping newsletter mentions this week with Joel Crofoot for his fairytale mashup, Rose Red and the Bear:
Happy reading!
