Hello!
I hope your June is off to a wonderful start! Mine has been busy with preparations for the 2024 Nebula Conference & Awards Ceremony! It’s the only writing craft/author networking conference I make a point of going to when I can. Some years I’ve had to be a virtual attendee, but this year is my second time participating in-person for the conference. I’m glad I get to return, but I’ve been scrambling to finish packing and make progress on revisions for my WIP. In good news, draft two is going very well for my WIP! 🎉
The biggest reason I love going to this conference is it’s a chance for me to connect with other speculative fiction writers. As much as I love talking online with author friends, I’m grateful for the chance to spend time with other writers to commiserate over the wonderful weirdness that is publishing (and deadlines! 😂)
I’ll also be attending panels and taking lots of notes. I’m looking forward to the award ceremony on Saturday night, too! (I’ll take any excuse to wear a fun dress with my boots! 💖)
If you’re local to central Iowa, Times of Futures Past has returned this year! I’m sad that I’ll miss out as I’ll be at the Nebulas, but this is a fun local event with all kinds of cosplayers. I know several steampunk cosplayers have plans to attend this weekend! Check out the details here.
In other news, I just got confirmation that I’ll be a vendor at TeslaCon in November! I’ll have more details later, but I’m looking forward to returning! This year’s theme, Kraken Island, is a mashup and I can’t wait to see the decorations and costumes. You can find ticket information here.
I have a couple more events planned for this fall, pending confirmation. In the meantime, I’ll be working on finishing my WIP this summer. I can’t wait to share more soon!
This month I’m participating in a group promo for Summer Sci-Fi and Fantasy in Kindle Unlimited! All of these titles, including my books, Monsters and Machines + Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast, are available in KU. Check them out here!
I’m also swapping newsletter mentions this week with another steampunk author. Check out Bodacious Creed: a Steampunk Zombie Western by Jonathan Fesmire: where the wild west meets steampunk and zombies! Features a resurrected lawman turned cyborg.
Are you attending any steampunk or book events this summer? I’d love to hear about them as I think about 2025.
Happy reading!
