Hello,
After another bout of illness last week, I’m better and back with all kinds of fun news today! Over the weekend, I spend an incredible day of learning and participating in workshops including the history of horror theater, resurrection men, and Poe vs. Mesmerism at Goths for Breakfast, hosted by Romancing the Gothic. The charity event raised over £2,000 for Magic Breakfast, a nonprofit that provides meals to children. By the end of the last session, my creative well was filled and I had so many notes!
If you’re also a fan of the strange and unusual, check out the Romancing the Gothic’s YouTube channel for all kinds of lectures. (I also have a soft spot for this group because a few years ago, they hosted my very first reading of Something Happened on the Way to the World’s Fair virtually. 💖)
I’ve also been stocking my physical library of fairy tale analysis and studies on monster theories. Though I’m not new to either of those subjects, my stack of research has made for fascinating research, which leads to my next bit of news…
New Strange Happenings Collection
I have a new collection of Strange Happenings stories coming out later this year! These stories pick up directly after the events of Monsters and Machines and feature more Lucille, Rosie, Evelyn, Adam, and a new POV character. The format will be very similar to the previous Strange Happenings Collection, bringing together a series of novelette length stories in one volume. (Note: this new collection is separate from the Strange Happenings novel that’s in the works.)
I can’t wait to share the cover! Stay tuned for release details!
Convention News
May is going to be a chaotically fun and busy month for me, but I’m ready for it! I’ve been invited to be a Pro Guest at DemiCon 36 in Des Moines, Iowa, from May 2nd-4th, 2025. I’ll have a table in the vendor room with my books and I’m also participating in at least two panels (perhaps a secret third panel as well. 👀) For more info about DemiCon, click here.
DemiCon Panels:
Monstrous Women: Come explore the evolution of monstrous women, starting with their depictions in classic myths and fairy tales and concluding with their roles in modern speculative fiction, comics, movies, and more.
Fusion Worlds: Blending Fantasy and Science Fiction for Unique Narratives: Explore the art of merging the realms of fantasy and science fiction to craft compelling stories. We’ll discuss how genre mashups can complement and enhance each other, creating rich worlds and unforgettable characters.
At the end of May, I’ll be off to the Chicago Steampunk Expo! I’ll have a table in the Palace of Fine Arts (the vending room with artists and authors) and also presenting a few panels:

Introducing Damselle Magazine
For FaRoFeb’s 5th anniversary, over 30 romantasy, PNR, and monster romance authors put together DAMSELLE: the FaRoVerse’s first and finest whisper sheet. It’s an illustrated magazine with articles written as if it existed in a romantasy universe.
I had so much fun being a contributing author! I wrote a Missed Connections snippet from Beast’s POV in Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast. You can check out the free zine here or by clicking the button below:
Happy reading!
