Nebula Conference News and Bookish Updates, or...💖⚙️📚
I could have just called this email "Good news, everyone!" Open for all kinds of fun updates! 🎁
I have lots of good news this week:
For the first time, I’m paneling at the Nebula Awards Conference! I’m so excited about my co-panelists, too. More details later in this email.
On July 17th, I have a virtual reading with Strong Women Strange Worlds. More TBA, but you can pre-register to this free event here.
The Chicago Steampunk Expo is next week! Will you be there?
I’m officially returning to TeslaCon in November!
My new bookmarks and postcards arrived on time for the Chicago Steampunk Expo starting May 30th. Between prepping for events, I’ve been tackling revisions and making notes for lots of writing this summer.

Exciting Nebulas News!
I can’t wait to attend the 60th Annual Nebula Awards Conference next month! This year, I have the privilege to panel with Nicola Griffith, the 41st Damon Knight Grand Master, and Locus Award winner, Ray Nayler.
“Genre Wars: Mashups Instead of Knockouts”
Date: Saturday, June 6
Time: 11am-12pm
Kelsey Josephson

Moderator:

Description:
Urban Fantasy is the best genre ever! What are you even talking about? Space Opera forever! Pfft. You're both wrong. Romance holds the largest share of the publishing market for a reason! Whatever. Epic Fantasy all the--STOP! We all have our personal preferences, both as readers and as writers. But what if instead of genre knockouts we explored genre mashups? This panel will explore the rich and vibrant spaces between genres and effective strategies for creating subgenre mashups that are greater than simply the sum of their parts.
The 2025 SFWA Nebula Conference is in Kansas City, Missouri, from June 5th-June 8th. I really love going to this conference to reconnect with author friends while I’m learning. (I’m particularly excited about Friday’s Career Survival Planning panels!)
Registration is open! If you’re an author (or an aspiring one) you can find out more here. In more cool news, a few copies of Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast will be given away in the book bags for in-person attendees! Can’t make it in-person? You can also virtually attend and have access to panels along with other resources for a year.
Join me at the Chicago Steampunk Expo?
The Chicago Steampunk Expo is next week! It takes place from May 30th to June 1st. I’ll have a table in the Palace of Fine Arts (the vending room with artists and authors) and I’m also presenting on these panels:
Inventions of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, Friday 8 pm-8:50 pm
Reading of The Clockwork Coffin, Saturday 12 pm-12:50 pm
What if? Exploring Alternate History in Media, Sunday 12 pm-12:50 pm
I’m happy that I get to talk about so many things that are tied to my new book releases! I love getting to share the research that went into both The Clockwork Coffin and Alchemy and Automatons.
When I’m not at a panel, you can find me in the Palace of Fine Arts (formerly Printers’ Row/Artists’ Alley) at my table. (And on Saturday night at the masquerade! 💖)
Palace of Fine Arts Hours:
Friday — 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturday — 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Sunday — 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
I will be at the convention a day early for the “Myth of Man” screening and Q&A with director Jamin Winans. This bonus event doesn’t require an extra ticket. You can find more here about the screening. The full convention schedule is here, along with ticket information.
Paranormal Steampunk Adventures Ahead at TeslaCon!
I’m so happy to be returning to TeslaCon: The Tear of Odin November 6th-9th in Middleton, Wisconsin! I have confirmation that I’ll have a table for my books. More information is coming about panels. You can find hotel and ticket information here. I love that this year’s theme mixes Nordic fairy tales with steampunk.
As always, you can find my full convention list on the Events page of my website here.
Happy reading!
