June Updates + New Books ๐โ๏ธ๐
In which I forget to be professional for five minutes and turned into a fangirl at the 2024 Nebulas ๐๐
Hello!
I hope you're having a wonderful week. I just returned from the 2024 Nebula Conference & Awards Ceremony in Pasadena, so Iโm both exhausted and happy!
I had an amazing time at the conference! I'm so grateful that I got to attend in person because some of my favorite memories have come from meeting up with other writers between panels and going out for meals together. I loved getting to spend time with both authors I already knew and meeting new friends. I hope I get to attend again!
I arrived day before the Nebula started and thought I was going to be bored, until there was a call for help putting together swag bags. There were ~2,000 books that needed to be unloaded, sorted, and bagged. I ended up having a blast helping with the others who pitched in. The work went fast as we laughed and traded stories.
Afterward, we had pizza, celebrated a couple birthdays with impromptu cake, and grabbed a beer. Volunteering was one of the best ways to get to know other people at the conference. I did a few other things while I was there and loved every moment of it. ๐
Before the awards ceremony, there was a red carpet for writers to visit and have their pictures taken. One of my new friends told me that the crew from Larian Studios showed up since Baldurโs Gate 3 was up for a Nebula. She knew that Iโm a huge fan of the game and the studio.
I saw the writing team from Larian in the hallway but I was more than a little nervous about going to say hi. My friend gave me hilarious (much needed) encouragement, so when Swen Vincke was directly behind me in line for photos, I decided to talk to him. Iโm so glad I did! He was very sweet and I made him laugh telling him about my bardโs antics and starting new characters as I work my way through a few of the romances.
Hereโs a few more pics from the conference and awards ceremony:
I have more pics that Iโll be posting later this month as I get back into routine with my WIP. Iโve got two main projects (and several others in the wings) that are competing for my attention and Iโm working to sort out my schedule so that everything goes smoothly. Before that happens, I have company staying with me for a couple days!
This week Iโm participating in a group promo for Page Turners: Unveiling the Best in KU Fantasy & Paranormal! All of these titles, including Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast, are available in KU. Check them out here!
Iโm also swapping newsletter mentions this week with another author. Check out Hidden by Fate and Masks: A Cinderella Fairy Tale Romance by Krysta Fox!
A lost princess that's been missing for a decade.
A demon prince with a secret no one else knows.
A magical debt that must be repaid.
Happy reading!
Kelsey
P.S. If you missed the Nebula Awards, you can watch the whole ceremony on YouTube here! Sarah Gaileyโs speeches alone are worth it.
