Details for my next con, book updates, and more inside! 📚
Hello!
I hope you’re having a wonderful August! I’ve been getting into routine now that my boys are back to school and prepping for Romance Con next week! When I haven’t been drafting or working on bracelets to trade at the con, I’ve been reading a lot of fairy tale retellings and moody, gothic stories while waiting for the next Baldur’s Gate 3 patch to drop (and likely destroy my sleep schedule.😂) Most of my current projects involve fairy tales with a steampunk twist (more on that another time), which has made for fun research!
At the time of this writing, I’ve read four books in as many days, and three were T. Kingfisher. Over summer break, I read Nettle & Bone and loved it! More recently, I read Thornhedge in an afternoon and I think that might be one of my favorites now. Halim and Toadling are precious! 💖
With travel for Romance Con next week, I’ll have to slow down my reading, but I can’t wait to read more of the other attending authors’ books soon. With that said, I have lots of things to share before I get back to drafting!
Progress for my WIPs is going well! One of my projects passed the second act last Friday. Even with the upcoming con, I’m on track to finish a draft by the end of September, making this the second full-length novel I’ve written since Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast’s release. There will be more work ahead on both books (and my other projects) but I’m excited to see these stories taking shape!
Speaking of Romance Con, the map, schedule, and more information about the book services have been posted by the convention. I can’t wait to meet up with readers and authors next week! I’m also super excited for the masquerade ball on Saturday night!
One important detail of note: in many of the posts Romance Con mentions pre-ordering books for attending authors. You DO NOT have to pre-order any of my books if you’re planning on coming to the con. In fact, I opted out of posting pre-orders because I knew between my boys starting the school year, drafting, and prepping for the con, I’d be too busy to keep track of orders. My books will be available at my table in the signing hall. Should I run out, I’ll have bookplates to sign (and bracelets to trade while supplies last.)
Come join me at Romance Con September 6th-7th at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, WI! I’ll have copies of Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast in paperback and hardcover, a limited number of Monsters and Machines paperbacks, bracelets to trade, and other bookish goodies! For more info and tickets, click here.
If your planning on attending Romance Con and have accessibility needs, you can request accommodations on their form here.
Have more questions about the convention? The Romance Con Attendees group has been a fantastic resource.
As always, you can check the Events page of my website to see where I’m heading next.
Not sure what to bring to a book con? Check out last week’s newsletter here.
If you have a favorite fairy tale retelling, I’d love to add them to my TBR! Let me know in the comments.
Happy reading!
