First look at my next book + a NEW bookish event! πβοΈπ
Update on my latest project + all the events this spring!
Hello!
This weekβs newsletter is behind schedule because Iβve been making excellent progress on my WIP. I also just got confirmation for a new bookish event this spring, but before that, I wanted to give my subscribers an exclusive first look at my new book!
Clockwork Portals1 is a romantic gaslamp fantasy series featuring lost magic, perilous adventure, and steampunk vibes. I have plans for at least four books. Hereβs a teaser for the first book, along with its tropes:
Book 1:
A fiery engineer and a brooding archivist investigate the return of dormant magic in a mechanical city.
Tropes:
π rivals to lovers/enemies to lovers
π forced proximity
π opposites attract
π redemption
π scars
π loner
π protector
π ancient curse
π monsters and magic
π fish out of water
π quest
π secret heir
π strong heroine
π fairy tale
π found family
π "Tell me to stop..."
I canβt wait to share more later on! Iβm also working (slowly) on a full length novel set in the Strange Happenings universe and a couple other projects.
In the other news, here are the bookish events I have coming up, including the new addition of the Ankeny Authors Fair on April 20th!
Chicago Steampunk Expo April 12th-14th
Ankeny Authors Fair Saturday April 20th, from 1-4 pm
DemiCon May 3rd-5th
Nebula Conference June 6th-9th (Iβm volunteering with registration this year. If youβre an attending author, come say hi!)
As always, for more information on my events, check out this page on my website. Iβm starting to think about events for 2025, so if thereβs an amazing book event or steampunk con in your area, please let me know! Itβs easiest for me to attend events in the Midwest as Iβm from the Des Moines area, but Iβm open to suggestions.
Happy reading!
Kelsey
Clockwork Portals is the working title of the series. It may change, but Iβm partial to it. π
