BTS of TeslaCon before I'm off to Fables and Flames THIS FRIDAY! 💖⚙️📚
🎁 Open for access to my TeslaCon panel slides, pics, and details for my next event!
Hello! As I write this, I’m in the process of packing for my next convention, Fables and Flames (more on that in a bit.) I had an amazing time at TeslaCon earlier this month! The Nordic fairy tale theme for this year’s convention was so much fun. Between panels, vending in the authors room, participating in the BrassGears Adventurers Society Radio Show, attending parties, and catching up with the Chicago Steampunk Expo, it was a whirlwind of weekend!
Before I leave town, I wanted to share a few pics and the slides from my panels:

TeslaCon 2025 Slides and Handout
Here are my slides and the handout from my presentations! Click on either the pic or the button to access everything.
Fairies, Folklore & Superstitions of the later Victorian Age
Come learn about the real influence of fairies and folklore during the Victorian age! Topics will include the origins of the London Folklore Society, clashes between academic folklorists and fairy-beliefs among spiritualists, debates on ‘Psycho-folklore’, and strange superstitions.
Magic and Machines: Steampunk Fairy Tales
What happens when you mix the world-building of steampunk and combine it with the beloved lore of fairy tales? Come learn about examples of steampunk fairy tales in all kinds of media, then listen to a reading of The Clockwork Coffin, a Gothic fairy tale retelling with a steampunk twist.
Understanding Automatons
Come learn about the fascinating origins of automatons and their influence on steampunk! We’ll discuss real examples of historical and often intricate clockwork machines before diving into the role of automatons in literature, comics, and movies.
Handout for Writing Steampunk: Beyond Cogs and Gears
Come join author Kelsey Josephson for a craft talk about writing steampunk without falling into common pitfalls and find sparks of inspiration for your own projects! Participants will have access to a resource guide after the panel discussion.
(This was more of an informal talk on the last day TeslaCon. There wasn’t a slideshow for this panel, but I’ve included a few resources for writers looking to get started.)
Join me at Fables and Flames this weekend?
From November, 21st-23rd, I’ll be in Bloomington, Minnesota for Fables and Flames Romantasy Gala as an attending author! I’ll have a table with my books and other bookish goodies.
You can join readers and authors (including me!) for a special tea on Saturday from 12:30 to 2 pm. Details about the tea party can be found here. I’m so excited because this is the first time I’ve ever participated in an author tea!
I also have a reading + Q&A on Saturday at 4 pm in the Belfast room. Check out this page for the full schedule and map.
The list of things to do at Fables and Flames looks AMAZING:
Author signings
Burlesque show
Saturday night ball
Writing workshops
Puppy and kitty room
Mermaids in the pool
I can’t wait to check out all the activities! Come join us!
As always, you can check the Events tab of my website for more convention and event news.
Happy reading!
