BTS of DemiCon, Upcoming Events, and... 💖⚙️📚
🎁 Open for my panel slides!
Hello! I’m still catching up on sleep and writing after another fantastic DemiCon. It was an amazing start to the convention season! I completely sold out of Monsters and Machines, and only brought home a handful of Forsaken Beauty and the Etherbeast paperbacks.
While at DemiCon, I got to panel about all kinds of fun things. Participating in the BrassGears Adventure Radio Mystery was a blast (we laughed so much in rehearsal!) and if all goes well, we’ll be performing again at TeslaCon in November. During the convention, I also had a meeting about upcoming project that I’m really excited about because I’ve never done anything like it before! (More details on this another time. 👀)
When I wasn’t at my table, paneling, or performing, I had a wonderful time catching up with my friends at the BrassGears Adventurers Society party! They decorated the room to look like a cantina from Star Wars and even had a laser tag game featuring Han and Greedo. (I also tried Malört for the first-and-probably-last time, which is a long story, but it was certainly an experience. 💀 Don’t worry, I had better drinks at the party after that. It was all in good fun! 😂)

As usual, I did not take nearly enough pics of the weekend because I was so busy! I really love that DemiCon has so much going on, but it’s a small enough venue that I can easily get around (and I can run off to visit with my friends at the room parties as soon as I’m done working.) I also really appreciate the sense of community at DemiCon. Everyone was so sweet to my mom when she was watching my table during panels. It was the perfect start to convention season!

This year, my panels leaned into DemiCon’s Western sci-fi and fantasy theme, but I made it my own by including the Gothic and steampunk. All of these topics were such fun research rabbit holes. I really enjoyed getting to present with Rachel Aukes during the Weird West and Steampunk panel!
Below you can find the slides from all the presentations. I’m still planning on uploading at least one of my talks to YouTube before I leave for events next month. But first, I need to catch my breath! (And work out a couple tech issues…)
Now that DemiCon is over, I’m back to revising, drafting, and plotting projects. Even though I’ve had it in my planner for some time now, I still haven’t quite wrapped my head around that I’ll be in Chicago for nearly half of next month! I will definitely be taking my writing on the road with me. June is going to be packed, but I’m so excited for both the Nebula Awards Conference and the Chicago Steampunk Expo!
